Story sequencing for a child with dyslexia

Project type

ELA goal for a child with dyslexia

Date

March 2024

Location

Ohio

The recent project "Story Sequencing for a Child with Dyslexia" is a part of my teaching goals, aiming to provide effective learning tools for children with dyslexia. Through the use of DALL E 2, I generated images to help teach the concept of "beginning", "middle", and "end" in storytelling, tailored to suit the needs of a child with dyslexia. As the child's ELA teacher, I read aloud the story and then for assessment, I allow the child to cut and paste the correct answers in the given boxes, requiring them to put the events of the story in the correct order. In the last paper, the child cut and pasted the correct answers in their respective boxes without assistance. This hands-on approach helps the child better understand the flow of a story and improve their overall literacy skills. This project utilizes the innovative use of technology to aid in the learning process for children with specific learning needs.
